چکیده

In Experiment 1, antialiasing was found to improve performance on an orientation-discrimination task, whereas increasing display pixelcount did not. The latter finding was attributed to a decrease in image contrast associated with driving the CRT beyond its effective bandwidth. In Experiment 2, it was found that display resolution is the primary determinant of orientation-discrimination performance. This performance was not significantly improved by increasing antialiasing beyond a minimal level, suggesting that greater image detail can be substituted for antialias filtering. Finally, data obtained from an objective target-size calibration showed that nominal target size often does not accurately reflect the size (and hence distance) of simulated targets. q 2005 Elsevier B.V. Discrimination of Power Quality Distorted Signals Based on Time-frequency Analysis and Probabilistic Neural Network

Recognition and classification of Power Quality Distorted Signals (PQDSs) in power systems is an essential duty. One of the noteworthy issues in Power Quality Analysis (PQA) is identification of distorted signals using an efficient scheme. This paper recommends a Time–Frequency Analysis (TFA), for extracting features, so-called "hybrid approach", using incorporation of Multi Resolution Analysis...

Antialiasing with Line Samples

Antialiasing is a necessary component of any high quality renderer. An antialiased image is produced by convolving the scene with an antialiasing filter and sampling the result, or equivalently by solving the antialiasing integral at each pixel. Though methods for analytically computing this integral exist, they require the continuous two-dimensional result of visible-surface computations. Beca...

Perceptual Performance Impact of Gpu-based Warp & Anti-aliasing for Image Generators

In 2012 the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, in partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and NASA AMES, constructed the Operational Based Vision Assessment (OBVA) simulator. This 15channel, 150-megapixel display system remains one of the highest resolution displays ever built. One of the original goals for the simulator was to implement a distortion correction syste...

On the Utility of Stereoscopic Displays for Simulation Training

In 1990 Tidwell declared “Stereopsis Takes Off in Flight Simulation” and he and his contemporaries asserted stereoscopic displays were “required” for a range of training tasks including air refueling, formation flight, and low level missions. But, some 22 years later, we find stereoscopic displays in a very small fraction of simulation trainers in current use. A survey of suppliers revealed exp...
